How to disable the integrated PDF reader in Google Chrome
Google Chrome is the browser used by over 60% of people browsing the web (source: W3C).
Chrome integrates a PDF file reader to display the popular format within the browser without having to open files with an external player such as Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Unfortunately, the PDF rendering quality in Chrome is quite low (there’s no subpixels optimization) and many users report problems with prints. For these and other reasons, you may be interested in disabling the integrated PDF viewer in Chrome.
We will explain below how to do it in a few steps.
Make sure you have Chrome updated to the latest version:
Click the button In the top right of the Chrome window and choose the “Info on Google Chrome” item:
The browser will update automatically.
Now open a new tab in Chrome and type chrome://plugins in the address bar
A list of Chrome plugins (add-ons) will open. Locate Chrome PDF Viewer and click Disable.
From now on, links to PDF files on sites will no longer open in Chrome. Instead, files will be downloaded to your computer, where you can open them with an external reader.
